Lukaku completes return to Inter on loan from Chelsea

Milan, June 30 (BUS): Romelu Lukaku will once again be looking to revive his career again in Italy after completing his exciting return to Inter Milan on a one-year loan deal, just 10 months after joining Chelsea for $135 million to be the seventh most expensive. A football player at the time.

It’s great work by Inter, who are said to be paying Chelsea €8 million ($8.4 million) – plus up to €2 million in team-related bonuses – for Lukaku, the AP reports.

The 29-year-old striker will become one of the biggest failures in Premier League history and is said to have taken a pay cut to secure his return to Italy after a miserable second spell with Chelsea.

“It seemed impossible for me to come back here, but we made it and I am grateful to him (Inter president Stephen Zhang) for the way he has continued to push and believe that it is possible,” Lukaku said in an interview with Inter TV.

“We managed to do it in the end and I’m glad to be back.”

Lukaku also revealed that he kept his home in Milan after moving to Chelsea.

“It means something,” he said. “I’m happy to be back and now I can’t wait to go there with my teammates.”

The move will see Lukaku linked once again to Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in a formidable partnership dubbed “Lola” by Italian media.

“I am very happy,” Lukaku said in a video clip Zhang took and posted on the club’s social media on Wednesday.

“That’s what I’m here for,” Lukaku replied when Zhang asked him if he’d score a lot of goals

Lukaku scored 47 goals in 72 Serie A matches in the two previous seasons with Inter and helped the Nerazzurri win the league in 2021 for the first time in 11 years.

However, struggling financially, Inter needed to lower their wage bill and turn a profit in the transfer market, so Lukaku was sold to Chelsea last August at a record transfer fee for the English club.

But Lukaku seemed far from the striker who struck fear into the heart of defense during his time in Italy. He has scored just eight goals in 26 Premier League games, and was also ruled out at the start of this year after giving an interview in which he said he was “unhappy with the situation” at Chelsea and indicated he did not like the style of coach Thomas Tuchel. from playing.

Antonio Conte was a coach during Lukaku’s previous spell at Inter, and under him the Belgium international thrived, renewing his confidence and scoring after a disappointing spell with Manchester United.

It remains to be seen how Lukaku will perform under Inter coach Simone Inzaghi. The two overlapped briefly at Inter, during the last preparatory season before Lukaku completed his move to Chelsea.

“I wanted to work with coach (Inzaghi),” Lukaku said. “We have been in contact throughout the whole of last season. I think he is doing a great job here. I want to help the team and do a good job for this club.”
