Manama, Jan. 22 (BNA) The CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority Jamal Abdul Aziz Al-Alawi revealed that the law enforcement sector in the authority has drawn up a comprehensive plan to launch intensive inspection campaigns in various commercial markets. Shops in all governorates of the Kingdom to stand against any illegal practices that may negatively affect the labor market. The CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority stressed the need to maintain the strength, competitiveness, fairness and stability of the labor market.
After reviewing the report of the Law Enforcement Sector 2021, Al-Alawi said that despite the repercussions of the epidemic, more than 10,000 inspection visits were made, which led to the detection of more than 900 criminal violations, in addition to launching more than 100 joint campaigns with the relevant authorities. Which resulted in the arrest of hundreds of violating workers, and the referral of 8 cases of forced labor to the concerned authorities.
The CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority confirmed that the LMRA partners in various government agencies, including the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, the Ministry of Works and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Health, and the security directorates in all governorates jointly launched Regular intensive inspection campaigns, each within its competence, to detect any violations in the labor market, in addition to the inspection visits that are conducted daily by the Law Enforcement Sector of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority to shops in various fields of business.
Al-Alawi explained that the authority’s law enforcement sector successfully carried out more than 10,000 inspection visits in 2021, in addition to launching 41 inspection campaigns in conjunction with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, which resulted in the arrest of hundreds of violators, in addition to 66 inspections. The inspection campaigns resulted in the arrest of hundreds of violators according to the Labor Market Regulatory Authority Law, all of whom were referred to the Public Prosecution, in addition to 8 forced labor cases that were referred to the competent authorities.
In cooperation with the General Department for Investigation, Criminal Evidence, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Labor Market Regulatory Authority launched joint inspection campaigns that resulted in the discovery of 13 unlicensed establishments for importing domestic workers (hourly system), and the arrest of dozens of violating workers who are currently subject to legal investigations in preparation for their referral to the prosecution the public.
The CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority stressed that the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, within its legal competence, will never tolerate any act that violates the law, and will never stop apprehending violators. He also said that those who were arrested during the inspection campaigns in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain will never obtain any new work permits, and therefore they will not be able to transfer them to regular employment, and their only option is to leave. The kingdom will never return again.
Al-Alawi expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the concerned authorities that contributed to the success of the inspection and control work, stressing that all government agencies are working in an integrated manner as a national team aimed at improving the work environment and creating a high-level labor market.
