Liverpool’s Salah named FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year

London, April 30 / BNA / Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah won the award for the best player in England, today, Friday, in the annual vote of the Football Writers Association (FWA), while the Egyptian international won the award for the second time.

Reuters reported that Salah, who also won in 2018, received 48% of the vote, ahead of Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Declan Rice of West Ham United, who came in second and third respectively.

The 29-year-old has 30 goals and 14 assists in 44 games for Liverpool this season and remains a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are one point behind Premier League leaders Manchester City with five games remaining.

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr took the Women’s Footballer of the Year award with 40% of the vote, beating Arsenal striker Vivian Miedema and City’s Lauren Hemp.

Australian International Care is the top scorer in the Women’s Premier League this season with 18 goals.

FWA said both Salah and Kerr will receive their award on May 5.
