Eriksen returns to Denmark squad for 1st time since collapse

Copenhagen, March 16 (BUS): Christian Eriksen has been called into the Denmark squad for the first time since he suffered a heart attack during a European Championship match in June.

The 30-year-old playmaker, who was fitted with an implantable defibrillator, resumed his playing career last month at English Premier League club Brentford, according to the Associated Press.

Denmark plays a friendly away match against the Netherlands on March 26 and hosts Serbia on March 29 as it prepares for the World Cup in Qatar in November.

“Christian is in good physical shape,” Denmark coach Kasper Hjolmand said. “I saw him against Burnley last Saturday where he was the best player on the pitch. He’s a player who thinks faster than most people.”
