The Kindergarten teacher is responsible for enhancing the personal and academic skills of the young learner. This is achieved by offering active and engaging lessons while using the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The Kindergarten teacher will display an active and positive attitude that will create a warm and inviting atmosphere to promote the physical, mental and social development of students. The kindergarten teacher will provide the children with a positive and safe environment. The kindergarten teacher is a team player who will positively coordinate with teaching assistants, principals, administrative staff and parents as the kindergarten teacher has to determine the best interest of each child.

Main areas of responsibility

1. Make every student feel safe and welcome in your classroom.

2. Be a role model for students in terms of positive behaviour, kindness and respect towards others.
3. Planning and delivering lessons that help each student achieve learning and curriculum objectives.

4. Create a clean and engaging classroom environment that fosters imagination and self-esteem through the presentation of student work.

5. Develop and implement an appropriate classroom management system.

6. Adapting standard teaching methods to meet the different needs and interests of students.

7. Establishing and influencing acceptable rules of behavior.

8. Implementation and follow-up of approved disciplinary interventions.

9. Make referrals for intervention and assistance when necessary.

10. Clearly communicate your needs and expectations to your Teaching Assistant.

11. Liaise with a Teaching Assistant to ensure maximum efficiency in the classroom and that each child receives the support they need

12. Instruct children on personal hygiene and self-care practices.

13. Encouraging cooperative social behavior through games and activities.

14. Monitoring, evaluating and recording the social and academic progress of children.

15. Provide constructive feedback to parents, guardians and management.

16. Preparing and distributing written reports.

17. Prepare lesson materials and resources in accordance with school procedures.

18. Ensure that equipment and facilities are clean and safe.

19. Selection and use of appropriate teaching methods and materials for students and learning activities.

20. Use games, music, books, art, technology, and other resources to teach basic skills and promote student development.

21. Collaborate with other staff to promote the general health of the school.

22. Perform required administrative duties including attending staff meetings, parent evenings, and professional development events including those that occur after school.

23. Arrive on time and use serious supervision during your break time and after-school assignments.

24. Uphold the school’s code of conduct and all school policies, rules and procedures in a supportive and positive manner.

25. Communicate with parents through the Parent Portal on a regular basis. Parents’ messages must be answered within 24 hours.

26. Ensure that display boards display students’ work and implement a new topic every 3-4 weeks.

Have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent
At least two years of experience as a kindergarten teacher
Native English speaker
Experienced in the British National Curriculum is preferred
