Justice Minister receives UNODC officials

Manama, October 25 (BNA) The Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Sheikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received Dr. Hatem Ali, the Regional Director of the Gulf Cooperation Council at the United Nations Office on Drugs. and crime (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), and Maren Meyer, expert in crime prevention.

During the meeting, cooperation in the field of criminal justice was reviewed, especially the role of training at the Institute of Judicial and Legal Studies in the areas of restorative justice for children and alternative punishments.

They stressed the importance of having an integrated system in training related to money laundering, terrorist financing and illegal financial transfers, as well as strengthening coordination between law enforcement agencies, especially with regard to the collection and exchange of information and analysis of financial information, including mainly complex financial transfers, which supports the fight against those crimes and the promotion of criminal prosecution.

The Minister welcomed cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the field of access to justice initiatives, especially in the field of criminal justice, including mediation, noting the cooperation that has existed for years with the Office, based on the outcomes of the National Conference on Justice. Criminal Justice in 2015, which contributed to building national capacities in all areas of criminal justice.
