Inter beat Lazio 3-1 to leave Napoli one win away from title

Rome, April 30 (BNA): Inter Milan came back from a goal down to win 3-1 at home to Lazio in Serie A today, Sunday, to give Napoli the chance to win its first title since the Diego Maradona era over the weekend.

Reuters reported that a double by Lautaro Martinez in the second half and a goal from Robin Goossens canceled out Felipe Anderson’s two goals in the first half, leaving second-placed Lazio with 61 points.

The result means leaders Napoli, with 78 points, can secure the title, their first in 33 years, by defeating Salernitana later on Sunday with six matches remaining at the end of the week.

Inter controlled the ball at the San Siro and thought they took the lead in the 25th minute with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s first touch but Joaquin Correa was offside when he sent him in and the goal was disallowed.

Inter continued to create chances but lost the ball outside the penalty area in the 30th minute after a foul by Francesco Acerbe, which Lazio midfielder Anderson used to dig into the corner, after he had exchanged passes with Luis Alberto.

Both teams had chances to score in the second half but goalkeepers Andre Onana and Ivan Providel put in a good performance saving the few shots on goal that came their way.

However, Inter striker Lautaro slid through the Lazio defense to equalize in the 77th minute from a Romelu Lukaku cross.

Belgian striker Goossens superbly scored to make it Inter’s second from close range six minutes later, and Lautaro added another goal seconds before time on a solo effort.
