Industry Minister: Food Festival 2022 proved Bahrain’s tourist sector’s recovery

Manama, April 1 / BNA / The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism Authority, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, confirmed that the unprecedented success of the current session of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism Authority showed the “Food Festival” of the recovery of the tourism sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and reflected the sector’s ability to restore , and even exceeded, performance and growth rates before the outbreak of the epidemic.

He pointed out that this achievement once again demonstrated the success of the government’s policies in supporting and developing this sector.

Minister Al-Zayani made it clear at the end of the food festivals that the current session witnessed a large turnout and was the largest of its kind compared to the previous six sessions, whether in terms of the number of participating restaurants or the number of visitors from citizens and residents. , and tourists. In this regard, he pointed to the important role that participating restaurants and a rich program of events play in the success of the event.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism also acknowledged that the effects of the recovery from the epidemic were evident in the hotel and restaurant sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, where it witnessed a real increase of 31.66%, and 39.82% at current prices in the fourth quarter of 2021 compared to the fourth quarter of 2020; According to statistics issued by the Information and e-Government Authority.

These numbers and indicators reinforce our belief that we are on the verge of a great renaissance in the tourism sector, especially since we are getting closer every day to launching and operating major tourism projects such as the largest exhibition and conference center in the region. On Bahrain’s ability to achieve the ambitious goals stipulated in the Bahrain Tourism Strategy 2022-2026, referring in this regard to the efforts of the Bahrain Tourism Authority, which launched a rich project. A program of important activities since the beginning of this year at the national, regional and international levels.

It is noteworthy that this year’s food festival witnessed the participation of 120 restaurants that offered different types of food, drinks and desserts. The “Cooking Corner”, which houses several well-known Bahraini chefs, who prepare and cook different types of cuisine in front of the audience in a unique interactive environment, was another highlight of this year’s food festival. This edition also featured a wide range of exciting events and activities, including Bahraini artists who presented a variety of musical and artistic performances, in addition to lottery prizes also held throughout the event in cooperation with hotels and restaurants across Bahrain.
