iGA, Smart Way discuss ways to promote smart cities in Bahrain

Manama, November 27 (BNA) The Chief Executive Officer of the Information and eGovernment Authority, Muhammad Ali Al Qaed, received the CEO of Smart Way Consulting, Walid Khalaf, and Vice President Dana Al Rayes in his office at the headquarters of the Information and eGovernment Authority in Isa Town, where they discussed cooperation plans. Smartway is the organizer of the annual Bahrain Smart Cities Summit.

The meeting included discussions on how to promote the development of smart cities in the Kingdom and raise awareness of its many benefits among the public and private sectors, individuals and non-governmental organizations to help Bahrain keep pace with global developments.

Al-Qaed said that the Kingdom has succeeded in implementing a set of smart city projects, such as providing a strong technical infrastructure linked to e-government and equipped to accommodate future information technology requirements. The Information & eGovernment Authority continues to accelerate digital transformation and launch Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications that will improve efficiency and quality of life for the public. Bahrain adopted key elements of the smart city during the pandemic by deploying advanced technology that reduced the impact on Bahraini society and its economy.

The Leader highlighted the role of the private sector in supporting technological progress in the Kingdom, including Smart Way for organizing the annual Bahrain Smart Cities Summit and its efforts in promoting digital transformation in cooperation with government agencies. He highlighted the company’s role in providing valuable IT expertise, including Al Rais’ recent contributions as a jury member in the eGovernment Excellence Awards 2021.
