HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issues Edict (11) of 2023

Manama, Feb. 28 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today issued Resolution (11) for the year 2023 to reconstitute the National Committee for the Elderly, based on the Minister’s proposal. For social development, after the approval of the Council of Ministers.

According to the decree, the National Committee for the Elderly is chaired by the Minister of Social Development and consists of the following members:


1- Assistant Undersecretary for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, representing the Ministry of Social Development.

2- Head of the Elderly Care Department, representing the Ministry of Social Development.

3- A strategic planning expert representing the Supreme Council for Women.

4- Director of Pensions and Rewards Department, representing the General Authority for Social Insurance.

5- A geriatrics consultant, representing government hospitals.

6- A nursing supervisor for the mobile medical unit, representing primary health care centers.

7- Secretary General of the Bahraini Charitable Society, representing the Bahraini Charitable Society.

8- Chairman of the Executive Committee – Secretary General of the UCO Parenting Center, representing the UCO Parenting Center.

9- Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Parents Care Society, representing the Bahrain Parents Care Society.

10- Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Al-Hikma Retirees Association, representing the Al-Hikma Retirees Association.

The bodies mentioned in clauses (5) and (6) shall nominate a person to represent them in the committee.

Members serve for a renewable term of three years.

The committee members elect a vice-chairman at their first meeting.

The ministers – each within his jurisdiction – shall implement the provisions of this decision, and it shall come into effect immediately upon its issuance, and it shall be published in the Official Gazette.
