HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister attends the seventh edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism

Manama, May 14 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, witnessed today the seventh session of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, which was held under the patronage of His Highness.

His Highness pointed out that the media is an essential partner in helping to achieve the comprehensive development goals of the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Highness affirmed that the press plays a responsible and pivotal role by supporting the Kingdom’s national economy and presenting its wide-ranging achievements at the regional and international levels.

His Highness praised the heads of the national press institutions for their distinguished efforts in informing the local, regional and international audiences about the ongoing development projects in the Kingdom.

Then the awards were presented to the following media professionals:

Best column award: Khalil Youssef from Al-Ayyam newspaper

Best Investigative Journalism Award: Rashed Al-Ghaeb from Al-Bilad newspaper

Best Interview Award: Hassan Al-Sitri from Al-Watan newspaper and Muhammad Al-Jayousi from Al-Bilad newspaper

Best Photography Award: Youssef Talaleh from the Bahrain News Agency

His Highness congratulated the winners and wished them further success in their careers.

His Highness expressed his pride in the efforts made by media professionals in the Kingdom to spread awareness and knowledge in a responsible, fair and ethical manner.

The Minister of Information Affairs, Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, thanked His Royal Highness for sponsoring the awards ceremony and his support for freedom of expression, which is an essential component of the Kingdom’s constitution.

His Excellency Dr. Al-Nuaimi congratulated the winners this year, pointing out that the awards represent the Kingdom’s appreciation for their efforts, and highlight that their achievements motivate their peers.

For their part, the winners of the seventh edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism expressed their thanks and appreciation for His Highness’s continuous support to media professionals and institutions in the Kingdom.

The ceremony was also attended by a number of senior officials, journalists and media professionals.
