Housing and Urban Planning Ministry holds a meeting with banks

Manama, August 2 (BNA) The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning held today a working meeting with officials representing commercial banks.

The expanded meeting was also attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, Rashid Al-Maraj, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Sheikh Khalid bin Hamoud Al Khalifa, and the Director General of the Housing Bank, Dr. Khalid Abdullah.

The meeting followed a joint action plan to implement the new housing finance program, which was launched on Monday, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the Central Bank of Bahrain and the Housing Bank.

The Ministry of Housing said, “The new financing program is the result of continuous work to provide initiatives that ensure the provision of immediate housing solutions to citizens.”

He pointed out that the scheme heralds a new phase in partnership with the private sector by diversifying financing alternatives, in line with the government’s action plan and Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

The launch of the new program stems from the success of “Mazaya”, noting that these initiatives aim to provide more than 10,000 housing services through packages offered by banks, in addition to the government’s contribution.

The meeting stressed the importance of facilitating the beneficiaries’ procedures during the next stage, and the continuation of joint coordination between the Ministry, the Housing Bank, banks and commercial banks in order to achieve the sustainability of the success of these programs.
