The Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Medal, First Class, is ARCO’s highest honor awarded to kings and heads of state in recognition of their support for the International Movement, the Red Crescent and the Red Cross.
In his speech at the ceremony, Dr. Al-Tuwaijri praised the pioneering role of His Majesty the King in supporting humanitarian work, praising the dedication of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its noble stances on the local and international arenas.
He said that the General Assembly of ARCO decided at its forty-third session to award His Majesty the King the Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Medal of the First Class, in appreciation of Bahrain’s support for humanitarian work.
His Majesty the King thanked the Red Crescent and the Arab Red Cross, praising its role in promoting Arab humanitarian work and supporting Arab National Societies in the humanitarian and relief fields. He commended the cooperation and coordination between ARCO and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society in this regard.
His Majesty stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to support charitable, humanitarian and voluntary work, and pride in the honorable position of the Kingdom in these areas. He praised the firm belief of Bahrainis in the values of goodness and solidarity stemming from the teachings of Islam and authentic national values.
The Sudanese Red Crescent Society valued its efforts, noble message, and contributions to support humanitarian work and provide relief assistance to refugees and the afflicted to alleviate their suffering, in addition to promoting a culture of volunteer work that contributes to consolidating the values of solidarity, cooperation and work.
