HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa chairs the weekly Cabinet meeting

Manama, October 17 (BNA) His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet praised the speech of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the opening of the fourth session of the fifth legislative term of the National Assembly. The Cabinet highlighted the national message that it carries, identifying future priorities and the foundations of national action.

The Cabinet reviewed what was mentioned in the King’s speech about the effectiveness of government programs aimed at achieving financial balance and self-sufficiency as a first step towards developing and sustaining national wealth and resources.

The Cabinet affirmed His Majesty the King’s praise for the continuous development of the government’s performance and its adoption of the latest administrative and technical practices, especially improving control over the quality of services provided to citizens and residents and raising the efficiency and equity of the state. The Cabinet noted His Majesty’s speech regarding the success of the alternative sanctions program in achieving its goals. The Cabinet also stressed the importance of further strengthening cooperation with the legislative authority in reviewing priority legislation to contribute to securing a supportive environment for development and achieving citizens’ aspirations.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memoranda with the following results:

Agree to the following notes:

1- The memorandum of the Minister of Cabinet Affairs on the report of the nationally determined contribution to Bahrain, which refers to plans and projects to confront climate change, including renewable energy projects, water management and afforestation, and their incorporation into the government plan.

2- A memorandum by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism regarding a draft decision to issue the executive regulations of the unified Gulf Law (System) to combat commercial fraud.

3- A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s responses to two proposals from the House of Representatives and a proposed law submitted by the Shura Council.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topics:

1- A memorandum by the Minister of Finance and National Economy regarding the initial performance indicators of the Future Generation Reserve Fund for the six months ending on June 30, 2021. The indicators reflect the efficiency and effectiveness of the investment policy for the future generations reserve and its continued success. Despite the repercussions of the Covid-19 epidemic.

2- The memorandum of the Minister of Health regarding the commitments of the Ministry of Health and Climate Change in line with the international commitments of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its active role in climate action and the development of the national health system.
