HH Shaikh Khalid praises efforts of Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association to develop sports

Manama, December 19 (BNA) Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Public Sports Authority, and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, National Weightlifting Day. The weightlifting championship concluded yesterday.

The three-day event was held in conjunction with the Kingdom’s national holidays, to commemorate the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain as an Arab and Islamic state, which was founded by Ahmed Al-Fateh in 1783, and commemorates the accession of His Majesty the King to the throne. throne.

It was attended by His Highness Sheikh Salman bin Muhammad Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority, Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the General Sports Authority, and Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, President of the Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation.

On this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Khalid expressed his great happiness at the wide participation in this event, in which competitors from Bahrain, the Gulf Cooperation Council, Asian and European countries participated.

His Highness stressed that such a sports gathering enhances efforts to make Bahrain a major destination for hosting major events.

“We are proud of the efforts made by the Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Association headed by Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji to plan and implement programs that support our endeavors to advance the sport and raise the qualifications of coaches, administrative members as well as athletes.

His Highness said that holding this event at this time reflects the federation’s keenness to celebrate national events, and this reflects the importance of sports federations and federations in spreading national values ​​and principles and strengthening loyalty.

It is worth noting that the event hosted 120 participants of both genders. 50 in powerlifting and 70 in powerlifting.

Zainab Ali Abdullah won the women’s weightlifting championship, while Mahdi Sakher returned to his land with the men’s title.

Amina Hassan won the women’s weightlifting category, and Abdullah Salmeen won the men’s title in the same competition.
