Manama, Apr. 29 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Public Authority for Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, stressed the importance of developing the health sector.

He pointed out the need to launch quality programs that contribute to enhancing the decent living conditions of citizens, in order to achieve the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince. He stressed the importance of the National Genome Center for future generations, noting the government’s contributions to improving the quality of life of citizens.

He praised the steps taken by the Ministry of Health to activate the role of the center in order to achieve the goals for which this pioneering national initiative was launched.

The National Genome Project aims to study the genetic maps of the population in Bahrain to learn more about the genetic factors that make the Bahraini population susceptible to certain diseases.

The project will also contribute to devising diagnostic methods that suit the genetic makeup of each person. individual in what is called personalized medicine.

On the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Thani, the CEO of the General Authority of Societies, Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, held a meeting with Amjad Ghanem, head of the national team to implement the national genome plan, head of public health laboratories at the Ministry of Health, and attendants. a team.

They discussed a joint action plan involving various sports institutions, including clubs, federations, bodies and committees, in the National Genome Project.
