Manama, October 20 (BNA) The American University in Bahrain (AUBH) held its third annual President’s Race under the slogan #OneTeamOneRun, with the participation of 200 participants.
This came under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Public Sports Authority and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
Dr. Susan Saxton, Founding President of the American University in Abu Dhabi and Dr. Sheikh Saqr bin Salman Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Association for Athletics and Schools, highlighted the university’s ethos of “a healthy mind, a sound body” and emphasized that the AUB community is on a unique journey for all student.
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Maktoum toured the university’s sports center, where he expressed his admiration for its modern equipment.
We are pleased that the American University of Beirut organized this annual sports event, which reflects the university’s keenness to emphasize the importance of sports in the lives of individuals, especially male and female students. Sports play an important role in improving academic achievement, maintaining mental health, de-stressing, and helping to gain leadership skills. They give the opportunity to compete and maintain a healthy body. His Highness Sheikh Khalid said, “Sports represent a way of life and are the key to health, happiness and optimism in everyone’s life.”
His Highness pointed out that the establishment of this sports event confirms the university’s interest in actively participating in supporting and promoting sports within its curricula to serve the development of university sports to achieve the goals and aspirations of developing new talents that will raise the flag of Bahrain high. .
“University sports are an essential pillar for advancing the level of national sports, as it is a source for enhancing talent and supplying our national teams with various sports. We strive to draw up programs and plans to develop this sport to achieve the desired goals.” His Highness said.
