Health Ministry: No active tuberculosis cases among prisoners in Bahrain

Manama, June 11 (BNA) The Ministry of Health has confirmed that there are no active tuberculosis cases among inmates of detention centers in the Kingdom.

And the ministry stated, that one confirmed case was isolated in the quarantine unit designated at the Salmaniya Medical Complex two weeks ago, and it is in a stable condition after receiving treatment.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that all necessary preventive measures were taken by the Public Health Directorate, in accordance with global health protocols, and contacts were examined for possible infections, and all results indicate that no cross infections occurred. The relevant health authorities continue to monitor the situation.

The ministry stressed that access to health care for all citizens and residents in custody by court order is protected by the Bahraini constitution, and that the quality and level of health care provided to inmates is the same as that provided to everyone who is managed through the public health system.
