Health Minister marks World Sight Day

Manama, October 14 (BNA) The world celebrates World Sight Day on the second Thursday of October every year.

The World Health Organization has been celebrating this day since 1998, to raise awareness of the importance of sight, and to take the necessary measures to preserve and prevent eye injuries.

The Minister of Health, Faeqa bint Saeed Al-Saleh, said that Bahrain participates in the celebrations under the slogan “Love Your Eyes”, which aims to raise societal awareness of avoidable blindness and visual impairment as important public health issues, and this celebration also seeks to encourage policy makers in member states of the nations The United Nations develops, implements and funds national programs for the prevention of blindness and vision loss.

She pointed out that under the directives of His Majesty the King, the Ministry of Health is keen to ensure the provision of the best health services in the field of vision care and the preservation of visual integrity.
