Foreign Ministry holds workshop on protecting non-profit organisations from terrorist financing.

Manama, September 28 (BNA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a two-day capacity building workshop on protecting non-profit organizations from the risks of terrorist financing.

The events came based on the directives of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, to intensify efforts and increase strategic cooperation to serve the interests of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Twenty-two specialists representing various ministries and relevant national institutions participated in the workshop, which was held in the Kingdom, in cooperation with the Strategic Affairs Sector and the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center.

The workshop was attended by experts and practitioners from various member states of the Technical and Vocational Training Center, and the total number of participants reached nearly 100 participants.

Experts from the Financial Intelligence Department at the Ministry of Interior presented the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presentation, which dealt with the issue of the exploitation of non-profit organizations in financing terrorism.

This workshop comes in its third edition this year as part of a series of workshops organized by the TFTC based in Riyadh. The workshops deal with specialized topics in combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

The participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this specialized workshop to build national and regional capacities confirms the utmost importance that the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches to the issue of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is making unremitting and tireless efforts to combat terrorism and its financing, by adopting a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism, based on the legal frameworks of relevant legislation and laws.

The membership of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Center for Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the cooperation with the co-chairs of the Center, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, reflect the strength of the existing bilateral relations as well as the role and importance of this center. Strategic partnerships in raising the capabilities and skills of national cadres, training experts and exchanging ideas on best practices to enhance joint efforts to combat terrorism and its financing on a global scale.
