Foreign Ministry holds workshop on National Plan for Human Rights follow-up



Manama, Dec. 22 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator, organized an interactive workshop on following up the implementation of the National Human Rights Plan 2022-2026.

The workshop was attended by the Acting Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and the representative of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tasneem Atatreh, and the Head of the Human Rights Affairs Sector, Dr. Arwa Al-Sayed.

Dr. Atatreh stressed the importance of the partnership between the United Nations and the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the importance of the national plan for human rights to achieve the goals of sustainable development and to promote, respect and protect human rights.

The human rights advisor at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Asaad Saleh, highlighted the best practices for following up on the implementation of national plans for human rights and how to evaluate and develop follow-up mechanisms.

The workshop also included the stages of preparing, writing and following up the national plan for human rights, in addition to highlighting what has been achieved within its framework.
