“Food is Culture 7” returns to bridge the culinary and visual arts

Manama, February 19 (BNA) “Food is Culture” exhibition returns for its seventh edition in 2022, to present a cultural experience to the public in Bahrain that combines two creative worlds, namely the culinary arts and the visual arts.

This year, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities is organizing all “Food is Culture” activities in cooperation with “Al Liwan” by Seef Properties in its external area in Hamala.

The event will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022, in the presence of Her Excellency Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, in addition to a number of artists, cultural figures, media professionals and those interested in the arts.

“Once again, we are back to bring you what’s new in the worlds of arts and culinary arts through the seventh edition of the Food is Culture project. This is part of our strategy to protect and promote ancient Bahraini cuisine, which is an essential aspect of our intangible cultural heritage.”

This cultural achievement comes thanks to the strong partnership between various public and private bodies, and this year we are collaborating with Al Liwan for “Food is Culture” to offer distinctive cultural activities that reflect the richness that this event has always achieved throughout the past seven years,” she added.

She expressed her desire for the Culture Authority to continue “food is culture” because it uniquely enhances the activities of creative and artistic movements in the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that this initiative aims to create new spaces for innovation, through the discovery of many local talents of chefs, designers and artists to reach To a creative portfolio of works that opens up new horizons.

As usual, Food is Culture strives to provide an exceptional experience to the public in the Kingdom of Bahrain, where a group of chefs and artists from different backgrounds work in pairs to showcase the results of their collaboration by presenting unique dishes, innovative recipes and artwork.

The lineup for this edition of Food Culture includes three pairs: Executive Chef Junior Gomez of Mirai with sustainable fashion designer Nouf Al Shakar. Chef Manal Al-Saleh with the creative abstract Muhammad Taqi. As well as the owner of “Agora” Abdullah Al Nuaimi with multimedia artist Maryam Hajji. Audiences will interact interactively with the themes explored by each duo during the Food is Culture activities, tasting dishes and admiring the artworks resulting from this collaboration in a presentation that engages all senses.

The seminar will be moderated by one of Bahrain’s most prominent food bloggers, Hind Al Rumaihi, from thecravelist and she accompanies all the chefs and artists.

Nouf Al Shakar is a fashion designer with a passion and creativity that started at an early age. Nouf has always been fascinated by the beauty of art, architecture and jewellery. As a result, she created NS by Noof in 2009 which is a niche brand of bejeweled bags that each carry their own story, identity and personality.

Chef Gomez is a Brazilian chef based in Bahrain since 2015. Since starting work at Mirai, he has received seven prestigious awards, four Best Japanese Restaurant and three times Favorite Restaurant in Bahrain.

As for Muhammad Taqi, his work is distinguished by the philosophy of humanity. He looks deeply to reach the bigger picture, focusing on the essential aspects of depth and human dimension, by simulating feelings in the language of abstraction and chromatic expression through his paintings.

Manal Al-Saleh started following her passion for the culinary world at the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, she started experimenting with this new field and launched her brand @tablefor.5 via social media.

Maryam Hajj is a Bahraini multidisciplinary plastic artist who currently lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. She represented the Kingdom of Bahrain in the most prominent art festival in Finland, in addition to her participation in many international events and forums.

She was the winner of the 38th Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition. While Abdullah Al Nuaimi did not focus his studies on the culinary arts, he has always been very passionate about Greek cuisine.

After years of operation, he launched @agora.food store, restaurant and cafe, which is headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain and has branches all over the world. From Saudi Arabia and the Emirates.

It is worth noting that the Al-Liwan project by Seef Properties is one of the leading tourist destinations in the Kingdom, as its details and areas are inspired by the authentic Bahraini history and its deep-rooted cultural heritage.

The project is located in the Hamala area in the Northern Governorate, and is considered the first real estate development project of its kind in the Kingdom with an area of ​​122 thousand square meters.
