First Bahrain International Medical Conference for AIDS kicks off

Manama, September 22 (BNA) The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Lieutenant-General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is making great strides in providing the best medical services to all citizens. And residents under the continuous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the medical sector in the Kingdom.


He said that the leadership’s patronage contributed to placing Bahrain at the forefront of countries that provide the highest levels of health care.


This came in a speech delivered by the Chairman of the Council in a speech he delivered at the opening ceremony of the first Bahrain International Medical Conference on AIDS, which was held under his auspices at the Gulf Hotel on September 22 and 23, in the presence of Health Minister Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan. and health sector officials.


The conference, organized by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with “EducationPlus”, was attended by more than 400 participants in person and online.


Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah stressed that the conference reflects Bahrain’s distinguished ability to host international medical events, noting that the Kingdom has made qualitative leaps in developing the health sector, in line with the visions of its leaders who put the health of citizens. Residents are a top national priority.


The Minister of Health also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. She stressed that the conference embodies the Kingdom’s interest in advancing the medical sector, and its keenness to consolidate its position as a distinguished regional center for hosting medical events.

She affirmed Bahrain’s continued interest in implementing prevention programs, especially for HIV, and providing sustainable funding to ensure integrated health coverage and social protection for patients.


The consultant of internal medicine and geriatrics at the Sulaimaniyah Medical Center and the chair of the conference, Dr. Jamila Al-Salman, confirmed that the first Bahrain International Medical Conference on AIDS is one of the most important events in the fight against AIDS. It also highlighted Bahrain’s strategies and plans related to protecting those infected with the disease, by preserving their right to receive treatment and work, as well as criminalizing any form of discrimination in dealing with them.


Following the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Council, the Minister of Health and senior attendees toured the exhibition that was held on the sidelines of the conference.
