Barcelona, May 26 (BNA): After Barcelona’s title game ends in unexpected fashion, La Liga’s most humble teams are putting up some drama in the final days of the season.
Seven teams – Espanyol, Valladolid, Cadiz, Getafe, Almeria, Celta Vigo and Valencia – are all fighting to avoid joining bottom-placed Elche in Serie B next season. Espanyol and Valladolid are in the danger zone with two matches remaining.
All penultimate round matches will be played at the same time on Sunday, with the exception of Real Madrid’s trip to Seville on Saturday.
Espanyol face a tough game when they visit Valencia. The Barcelona-based team ranks second to last, three points behind Valladolid, Cadiz and Getafe.
If Espanyol lose to Valencia, and the other three draw at least, the team will be demoted, reports the Associated Press.
However, Espanyol are playing some of their best games of the season, winning 2-1 at Rayo Vallecano and erasing a three-goal deficit to earn a thrilling 3-3 draw with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
