Erling Haaland sidelined again due to ‘muscular problems’

Berlin Jan. 24 (BNA): Borussia Dortmund’s top scorer, Erling Haaland, was forced to take another break due to what the club described as “muscular problems”, according to the Associated Press.

Halland was knocked out in the 63rd minute of Dortmund’s 3-2 victory over Hoffenheim on Saturday, apparently due to a thigh injury.

Earlier in the match, the 21-year-old Norwegian received treatment for a problem with his right knee before proceeding. He underwent medical examinations on Sunday and Monday.

“Haaland has muscle problems that require treatment and more tests in the coming days,” Dortmund said on their website on Monday.

It is the third time this season that Haaland has been forced out due to muscle problems.

He missed three matches between the end of September and mid-October with a thigh problem and another seven games from the end of October to the end of November.

He is still managing 16 goals in 14 Bundesliga games this season. Dortmund did not say how long the striker will be out of action.

“We hope that Erling is fit as soon as possible and is back doing what he loves most – scoring goals for Dortmund,” the club said.

Dortmund is second in the German Bundesliga, six points behind Bayern Munich, after 20 matches played.
