Education Minister meets English language teachers

Manama, Jan. 12 (BNA): The Ministry of Education is intensifying its preparations to start training high school students for IELTS and TOEFL exams during the second semester.

Today, the Minister of Education, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak Jumaa, held a meeting with 370 English language teachers and briefed them on the plan.

“Introductory meetings will be held for the students, while teachers will be trained on the content of the two exams,” the minister said.

High school students will take electronic assessment tests to measure their levels. The first practice test is scheduled for February 12-16, while the second practice test is scheduled for May.

The plan aims to hone high school students’ English language skills and help them meet the entry requirements of many universities, which would otherwise be exempt from primary programmes.
