Double top for Bahrain’s 2 Seas Motorsport at British GT season opener

London, April 13 (BNA) A packed inaugural race for 2 Seas Motorsport, owned by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, saw the team take a couple of pole positions, taking them to a double-digit win at Oulton. garden.

The first victory of the weekend, for James Cottingham and Johnny Adam, marked the series’ 100th race start for the latter, while it was the perfect end to the weekend for champion Ian Logie and teammate Jules Gounon.

During the Pro Qualifying session, the two 2 Seas entries were firmly in the mix, with Jules and Jonny battling it out for the lead. Jules powered the pole position top of the timesheets, breaking the lap record in the process of securing pole position.

Race 1, and Johnny’s 100th pole, was one of the hottest in the championship, and the weather played a major role right from the start.

The weather seemed to be another major factor in Race 2 later in the day, as it continued to rain sporadically over Oulton Park. Jules made the start from pole position, while Johnny managed to get out of the third row, but had to overcome a penalty 10 seconds after the result of the first race.

The pair were lapping as they were the two fastest cars on the track. Unfazed at the front of the field, Ian continued to pull away with a comfortable margin.

“A great result for the team, both drivers over the weekend. Two poles, two wins from lights to flag, and we all helped play a part in Johnny’s amazing achievement,” said His Highness Sheikh Issa, owner of 2 Seas Motorsport.

“The whole team showed what we’re capable of, and it was great to watch the battles and efforts everyone put in. I’m not sure I could make a full season of racing like we saw today, especially the end of Race #1, but it was great to see both pairs of drivers fighting each other in the race. “He’s set things up really well with a high standard for the season, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what happens at Silverstone for the next round.”

With both cars winning P4 scores across the two events, the team took home the inaugural “Team of the Weekend” award from the series’ organizers, SRO, and now leads the overall championship. Besides, the drivers sit together at the top of the standings. The championship’s third race, the Silverstone 500, takes place from May 6-7.
