Shura Chairman highlights Bahrain’s strides in promoting human rights, freedoms

Manama, November 8 (BNA) The Speaker of the Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, affirmed the great progress made by the Kingdom in enhancing the rights and freedoms of all citizens and residents, whether at the level of legislation or related institutional mechanisms, thanks to the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which strengthened the position of Bahrain regionally and globally.

During his meeting here today with a delegation from the Group of Friends of Bahrain in the European Parliament, Al-Saleh reviewed the civilizational and developmental achievements of the Kingdom, highlighting the role played by the legislative authority within the framework of its integration and coordination with the government. Consolidating national legislation and laws that support human rights, promote social coexistence, respect pluralism, and promote the values ​​of tolerance in the Kingdom, in addition to achieving progress on the social, economic and political levels, given that the protection of human rights. One of the main pillars established by the Constitution and the National Action Charter.

Al-Saleh stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Bahraini legislative branch and the European Parliament and exchanging views on current global issues.

He also expressed his appreciation to the members of the delegation for their interest in Bahrain and the progress it is witnessing in various fields, particularly the legislative field.

He stressed the importance of exchanging visits in enhancing communication and providing opportunities to discuss issues of common interest.

The delegation of the Friends of Bahrain Group in the European Parliament praised the comprehensive development that the Kingdom is currently witnessing in various fields, especially education, health services, social development, security, stability and continuous economic growth.

They also praised the efforts made by the Kingdom to combat the spread of the new Corona virus at the international level, praising Bahrain’s advanced results in reducing the number of infections, and protecting the health of citizens and residents. The meeting was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors Jamal Muhammad Fakhro, Second Deputy Jamila Ali Salman, and a number of members of the Shura Council.
