“Day of Solidarity” telethon raises more than $ 3.7 million to support quake victims in Syria, Turkiye

Manama, Feb. 17 (BNA): In implementation of the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to provide urgent humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey, and under the auspices of the representative of His Highness. His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, organized Bahrain TV in cooperation with the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) a national campaign under the slogan “Solidarity Day” to support the earthquake victims.

Bahrainis showed their solidarity at its best with the brothers in Syria and Turkey who were affected by the earthquake, which glorifies the concept of humanity and good deeds.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the King, Honorary President of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, for his humanitarian initiatives towards the brothers in Syria and Turkey and the relief aid provided to the needy around the world. He pointed out that the campaign reflects the Kingdom’s firm stance towards brotherly and friendly countries in times of crises and humanitarian conditions.

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the tremendous support provided by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister to Qatar Charity. He affirmed Bahrain’s solidarity with the Syrian and Turkish peoples in their humanitarian ordeal after the devastating earthquake.

His Highness directed institutions, companies, individuals, citizens and residents to contribute to the noble humanitarian relief work to alleviate the suffering of the earthquake victims in both countries.

Bahrainis, residents, institutions, national companies, banks, associations and other components of society responded positively to the TV launched on Bahrain TV to collect donations.

The Secretary-General of Qatar Charity, Dr. Mustafa Sayed, CEO of the National Committee for Supporting Earthquake Victims in Syria and Turkey, praised the royal directives and his honorable stances towards brotherly and friendly peoples. He also praised the great support provided by the government under the leadership of His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and the National Committee. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his support and directives to form the National Committee to Support Earthquake Victims in Syria and Turkey and to unite efforts in this regard.

The Secretary General of the Health Care Foundation announced that at the end of the “Solidarity Day” campaign, more than $3.7 million had been raised, thanking all donors for their generous contributions. He stressed that preparations are in full swing to deliver humanitarian and relief aid as quickly as possible. He pointed out that the campaign is still ongoing and donations can continue through the channels of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation.
