Council of Representatives, Higher Education Council stress keenness to boost cooperation

Manama, October 27 (BNA) Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal stressed the importance of investing in youth, education, research and future sciences.

Zainal praised the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to enhance cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities and the partnership between the public and private sectors in establishing development projects and using modern technologies in work and education. The directives also called for the continuation of scientific excellence in the field of space and atomic energy and its use in promoting development and serving humanity.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives praised the great interest given by the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Higher Education, to the advancement of scientific and technological research in a way that contributes to promoting sustainable development programs in the country. Zainal’s statements came during her reception of the Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council and Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of Higher Education, Dr. Sheikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa.

The meeting reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between Parliament and higher education institutions.

Zainal stressed the deputies’ keenness to develop higher education and scientific research and improve their outputs to enhance Bahrain’s progress in science at the international level.

Dr. Sheikha Rana highlighted the role of Parliament in promoting higher education and efforts to encourage investment in this sector.

She stressed the keenness of the Higher Education Council on close cooperation and coordination with the House of Representatives and on joint initiatives to improve the quality of higher education.
