BTEA to organize nine-day “Manama Cinema” at Manama Souq

Manama, Nov. 16 (BNA): The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority announced its plans to host the “Manama Cinema” event in Manama Souq for nine days, from November 24 to December 2, as part of the “Road to Manama” activities. .


The events aim to enhance the tourist attraction of Manama Souq by organizing various activities for people of all ages.


Manama Cinema will show four nights of many Bahraini and Gulf films over the weekends, supporting national and Gulf cinema productions.


In addition to hosting pioneering Bahraini youth in the film industry and organizing various workshops and plenary sessions on the industry.


Films will be shown in the Hussain Yateem Building. The Yateem family was the first to help spark interest in cinema in Bahrain, thanks to Ali Ahmed Yateem who was the first to apply for cinemas in 1927.


The workshops and plenary sessions will be held at The Collective Hub in the Yateem complex in Manama Souq, which is a unique incubator for entrepreneurs and innovators.


Manama Cinema will be held in conjunction with the “Bahraini holiday season”, which will start at the beginning of December. The festival will include a variety of activities, events and celebrations that will be held across the Kingdom in various governorates.


Dr. Nasser Qaidi, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, expressed his happiness at hosting the Manama Cinema event in the Manama Souq, one of the most important tourist destinations in the region and the oldest commercial market.

He expressed BTEA’s gratitude for working with the Yateem family, who are credited with bringing Seventh Art to Bahrain and making it a pioneer in the region in launching movie theaters.


Qaidi stated that the Manama cinema reflects the interest of the Bahrain Tourism Authority in developing the Manama market as a prominent tourist attraction and turning it into a leading tourist destination in the Kingdom.


“Through our hosting of the Manama Cinema event, we aspire to attract larger numbers of tourists and give them the opportunity to learn more about Bahrain’s culture, heritage and long history by watching well-known Bahraini films,” Qaidi said.


“We at BTEA will continue our unremitting efforts to make the Manama Souq one of the most attractive destinations for visitors of all nationalities.”


While admission to the event is free, pre-registration for seating is required.


BTEA has recently organized a number of events in the Manama Souk, including the “Manama Gold Festival” and a popular fashion show. In addition, the authority is working with the Kanoo family to promote the family museum in the market area.
