Twitter to relaunch Twitter Blue at higher price for Apple users

San Francisco, Dec. 11 (BNA): Twitter will relaunch a revamped version of its subscription service Twitter Blue at a higher price, the company said in a tweet.

The company said users can sign up for the revamped service, which will allow subscribers to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, and get a blue check mark for account verification, for $8 a month on the web but $11 a month through Apple iOS, Reuters reported. .

Twitter didn’t explain why it charged Apple users more than others on the web, but there were media reports that the company was looking for ways to offset the fees charged in the App Store.

Twitter initially launched Twitter Blue in early November before pausing it as fake accounts became widespread. It was then scheduled to be released again on November 29 but was delayed.

Elon Musk, who made Twitter private for $44 billion in November, in a series of tweets last month listed several complaints with Apple, including the 30% fee the iPhone maker charges developers for in-app purchases.

He then accused Apple of threatening to ban Twitter from its App Store, and also said that the iPhone maker had stopped advertising on the social media platform.

However, after a subsequent meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook, he tweeted that the misunderstanding over Twitter’s removal from Apple’s App Store had been resolved.

Twitter and Apple did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
