Benzema hat trick in Real Madrid win but Vinicius injured

Madrid on April 29 (U.S.): A first-half Karim Benzema hat-trick sealed Real Madrid’s 4-2 victory over Almeria, and Saturday’s La Liga victory cost Vinicius Jr.

Vinícius Júnior asked to be substituted several minutes later after he appeared to hit his knee after taking a punch on a defender. Fellow Brazilian Rodrygo also ended the game off the bench by placing an ice pack on his left knee.

Real Madrid are already concerned about Luka Modric’s recovery from a thigh injury as their most important game of the season looms, reports the Associated Press.

Madrid played another LaLiga game at Real Sociedad before going into the Copa del Rey final next weekend against Osasuna in Seville.

Three days later, Real Madrid kicked off their Champions League semi-final replay from last season with Manchester City on 9 May.

A comfortable win over Almeria ensured Real Madrid remained second in La Liga but Barcelona still had an eight-point lead going into host Real Betis late on Saturday.
