Madrid, Feb. 5 (BNA): Champions Real Madrid suffered a shock 1-0 defeat by Mallorca in LaLiga on Sunday thanks to a bizarre own goal by defender Nacho early in the first half.
Reuters reports that Nacho left his teammates stunned when he attempted a cross in the 13th minute and headed the ball high over his goalkeeper and into the net.
Real dominated the match, but missed many opportunities and missed a golden opportunity to equalize in the 59th minute when Mallorca goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic saved a bad penalty kick from Marco Asensio.
Real ranks second in the standings with 45 points, five points behind leaders Barcelona, who have a postponed match and host struggling Seville later on Sunday. Mallorca remains in tenth place.
