BCCI hails Bahrain’s efforts to develop relations with Brazil

Manama, November 16 (BNA) President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Samir Nass highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to develop bilateral relations with the Federal Republic of Brazil.

He praised the initiatives led in this regard by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Last December, the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, in cooperation with the Bahrain Embassy in Brazil, announced the Declaration of Bahrain in South America from Brazil.

The President of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, also praised the distinguished relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing his country’s keenness to expand economic cooperation, especially the sectors of mineral, water and food trade.

He affirmed his keenness to build a partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain, explore economic and investment opportunities, and highlight the facilities and open economic environment in his country.

Nass was giving a speech at the Bahrain-Brazil Forum organized by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of President Bolsonaro, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Issam bin Abdullah Khalaf, Transport and Communications. Minister Kamel bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, CEO of the Information and e-Government Authority Mohammed Ali Al-Qayd, Bahraini and Brazilian businessmen and other high-ranking officials.

Nass praised the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federal Republic of Brazil, stressing the keenness to strengthen joint relations through the memorandum of understanding concluded by the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Arab Chamber of Commerce in Brazil.

Khalid Najebi, First Vice President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, delivered a speech at the forum, stressing the Chamber’s support for everything that supports joint economic cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Federal Republic of Brazil.

He praised the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, noting that Brazilian exports to the Kingdom of Bahrain exceeded $481 million. The volume of trade exchange between the two countries grew by 149% during the period from 2016 to 2018.

On the sidelines of the forum, two memoranda of understanding were signed aimed at developing economic and commercial cooperation between the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Arab Chamber of Commerce in Brazil.
