Bayern Munich in crisis, 4 Bundesliga games without a win

Berlin, September 21 (BNA): Bayern Munich is in crisis after four consecutive matches in the German League without achieving any victory, according to the Associated Press.

Doubt, uncertainty, disbelief – and anger. They have all been visible at the club since Bavarian rivals Augsburg’s 1-0 win over star-studded Julian Nagelsmann’s side on Saturday.

The 10-times champion had started the season brilliantly, scoring 15 goals and conceding just one in his first three matches to make the best start for any team ever in the Bundesliga, then stalled.

Bayern have not won since – having gone through three draws in a row with Borussia Moenchengladbach, Union Berlin and Stuttgart – before Saturday’s shock, also ending Bayern’s league record of 87 consecutive games.

Leipzig was the last team to hold Bayern without a goal in the Bundesliga on February 9, 2020.

Nagelsmann, who was expected to lead Bayern to the Bundesliga more than “only” in his second season, appears to be at a loss, struggling for answers amid his side’s decline.

Nagelsmann was concerned when asked if the team missed out on Robert Lewandowski, who moved to Barcelona in the off-season and continued his goal-scoring style in Spain.

Bayern clearly has a problem converting chances. The team had 19 goals against Augsburg – two of them from Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer – but in the end it was Rafai Jekevich to match Neuer who celebrated several great saves.

Bayern veteran Thomas Muller said he was “furious” after the third draw. After the fourth game without a win, he said, “We are standing here dumbfounded and amazed. It suits the weather, it gets darker.”

Sadio Mane is under criticism for the first time since joining from Liverpool. The Senegalese star scored three goals in his first three Bundesliga matches, but nothing since.

There has also been speculation about Nagelsmann’s future, with some linking former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel to the club. Tuchel is available after being sacked by Chelsea earlier this month.

But Bayern chief executive Oliver Kahn and club president Herbert Hainer have said they support Nagelsmann and are not even considering a change.
