Bahraini Permanent Representative in Geneva chairs GCC Ambassadors Council meeting

Geneva, November 2 (BNA): His Excellency the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in Geneva. Ambassador Dr. Youssef Abdul Karim Bucheery chaired the regular meeting of the Council of Ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Geneva, which was held today.

During the meeting, the ambassadors reviewed the outcomes of the forty-eighth session of the Human Rights Council, especially with regard to priority issues for the Council states.

The Council also recalled the unprecedented Gulf diplomatic success in dealing with the Western draft resolution on human rights in the Republic of Yemen and the importance of the next stage of following up and monitoring all positions and developments in this regard.

The permanent delegates also discussed the issue of calling for an extraordinary session of the Human Rights Council on the Republic of Sudan to coordinate the common Gulf position on it.

The ambassadors also discussed the participation of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in many upcoming events during the month of November in Geneva, especially the early preparation for the work of the Twelfth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization to be held in Geneva on November 30. Until December 3, 2021, as well as follow-up and coordinate common positions on a number of important issues on the international scene in Geneva.
