The importance of relations between Bahrain and the UAE stems from the political weight of the two countries, the distinguished geographical and strategic location, and the adoption of a rational and balanced foreign policy. They are also pioneering regional models for consolidating the foundations of democracy, human rights, freedoms and progress, as well as in achieving well-being, security and stability for its citizens, and consolidating the rule of law and law.


Relations between Bahrain and the UAE are diverse and cover various fields, especially the political and economic fields that the leaderships of the two countries attach great importance to. For this reason, the Joint Higher Ministerial Committee was established to supervise work mechanisms and joint projects, as well as activate bilateral agreements to achieve expected goals.


The regular visits of the leaders of the two countries and senior officials since ancient times reflect their similar positions on strategic issues of common concern. Rather, the two brotherly countries have always adopted similar political stances towards various regional and global issues.

With regard to economic cooperation and partnership, Bahrain and the UAE enjoy strong economic and trade relations, which is reflected in the remarkable growth in the volume of trade exchange and joint investments between them.


On November 9, 2021, the two countries signed a number of executive programs and memorandums of understanding, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


On October 23, 2022, the tenth session of the Bahraini-Emirati Joint Higher Committee convened in the Kingdom and agreed to implement the results of previous meetings.


Military and security cooperation is one of the main pillars of the existing partnership and integration relations between the two countries, in line with their keenness to defend their security and stability, as well as to confront any threats to the security of the region, foremost of which is the fight against terrorism. In fact, the Bahrain Defense Force and the UAE Ministry of Defense have signed many agreements and memorandums of understanding to exchange military expertise and conduct regular tactical exercises.


In this regard, the joint Bahraini-Emirati counter-terrorism exercise “Jaloud 3” was held in the Kingdom last month, in the presence of His Majesty King Hamad, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President of the United Arab Emirates, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. In addition to the political, economic and military fields, the two brotherly countries have set an example in cooperation in the field of space science, which is reflected in their success in achieving a unique scientific and technological achievement by launching the first joint Bahraini-Emirati satellite. , “Light 1” in 2021.


Moreover, the two countries share keenness on preserving the environment, resorting to renewable energy sources, investing in green cities, and contributing to international efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change by reaching carbon neutrality (Net Zero) by 2050.


The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), keen on strengthening Bahraini-Emirati relations, in cooperation with the UAE National Foundation, has launched a book entitled: Strategic Partnership between Bahrain and the Emirates… Legacy from the Past… Future Challenges… Future Opportunities.


The book, which was launched at Expo 2020 Dubai, documents the deep-rooted bilateral relations, which will inspire future generations to further strengthen bilateral ties.
