Bahrain to host Harvard International Symposium on COVID-19


Manama, March 27 (BNA) Bahrain will host the Harvard International Symposium on COVID-19, where healthcare professionals will gather to discuss lessons learned from the response to the pandemic and the sector’s future.



The hybrid event will take place on March 31, and will explore the most effective measures and methods that have been implemented in the pandemic.



Speakers from Bahrain were invited to participate in the symposium to highlight the Kingdom’s successful experience in combating COVID-19.



Speakers include: Consultant Infectious Diseases and Microbiologist at Bahrain Defense Force Hospital, and member of the National Medical Task Force to Combat Coronavirus (Covid-19), Lt. Col. Dr. Manaf Al-Qahtani. Consultant of Infectious and Internal Diseases at Salmaniya Medical Complex, and member of the National Medical Task Force to Combat Coronavirus (Covid-19), Dr. Jamila Al-Salman. Chief Executive Officer of Primary Health Care Centers and member of the National Medical Task Force to Combat Coronavirus (Covid-19) Dr. Jalila El-Sayed Jawad.



The symposium will also feature talks by international healthcare professionals and a number of leading organizations, including Pfizer, Google and Facebook.



The Government of Bahrain has led the establishment of a National Medical Task Force during the Pandemic, comprising of representatives from different stakeholder groups, to develop medical plans, make quick decisions and pool resources to combat the spread of the Coronavirus.



As of March 2022, 82.1% of the population had received two doses of the vaccine, and 85% of the eligible population had received the booster dose.
