Bahrain participates in PP22 in Bucharest

Bucharest, September 26 (BNA) Minister of Transport and Communications Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Plenipotentiary Conference 2022 (PP22) organized by the International Telecommunication Union in Bucharest.

The minister highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements in comprehensive government digital transformation, referring to the policies and initiatives that have been implemented, which include all services provided to citizens and residents.

In his speech, Al Kaabi explained that Bahrain has developed policies and programs aimed at automating more than 200 additional government services by 2026.

He pointed out that there are more than 560 government e-services designed to improve operational efficiency and quality, simplify procedures and develop services.

The minister said that Bahrain aims to increase the national workforce in the information and communications technology sector from 30% to 35% by 2023, stressing that digital transformation is one of the most important pillars of Bahrain’s economic vision 2030.

The International Telecommunication Union is the United Nations specialized agency in the field of information and communications technology (ICT). The Plenipotentiary Conference (PP), the union’s highest policy-making body, meets once every four years to set the union’s general policies, adopt four-year strategic and financial plans, and elect the organization’s senior management team, the union’s member states.
