Bahrain participates in GCC environmental coordination meeting

Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): Minister of Oil and Environment, Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dinah, participated in the coordination meeting of the GCC ministers responsible for environmental affairs.

The minister affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to all signed regional and international environmental treaties and programmes.

He stressed the Kingdom’s continuation in developing policies and legislation that regulate environmental protection and preserve its resources.

The meeting aims to consolidate positions at the high-level meeting of the United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity (COP 15)

The meeting discussed the agenda of the agreement, which is being held this month in Montreal, Canada, under the theme “Environmental Civilization: China’s Efforts to Build a Common Future for All Life on Earth.”

The agreement will deal with the global framework for biological diversity, digital sequence information for genetic resources, protection of biological diversity, preservation of its components, limiting climate change, and meeting the aspirations of the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
