Bahrain condemns Afghan decision to ban women from working in NGOs in Afghanistan

Manama, Dec. 27 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the decision of the caretaker government in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to prevent women from working in local and international non-governmental organizations in Afghanistan.

The ministry indicated that this decision violates UN Security Council Resolution No. 2615 and contradicts human rights principles endorsed by international covenants. It also opposes the right of Afghan women to work and contribute to sustainable development efforts, and it will also impede international efforts aimed at delivering humanitarian and relief aid to the brotherly Afghan people.

The Kingdom also calls on the caretaker government in Afghanistan to immediately retract this unjustified decision.
