Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition opens tomorrow

Manama, May 9 (BNA): Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the 49th Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition will kick off tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Bahrain National Museum.

The exhibition, organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), returns this year with a wide range of artistic entries by 55 Bahraini and expatriate artists showcasing more than 100 artworks ranging from paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, video and more. Forms of artistic expression, which include different materials and techniques and belong to different international art schools.

The peculiarity of the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition this year lies in the commemoration of the distinguished Bahraini artist and sculptor Khalil Al Hashemi. Part of the exhibition will be devoted to displaying a collection of his most important works and artistic creations.

Al-Hashemi designed the Dana Award statuette, an award given each year to the first winner of the exhibition.

The winners of the exhibition’s three annual awards will be announced on the opening day of the exhibition. The first winner will be honored with the Dana Statue, which was designed by the late Bahraini artist Khalil Al Hashemi.

The Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition is the largest and most important annual art gathering in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Over the years, he has attracted the most prominent faces of the plastic arts movement in the Kingdom, among the pioneers, as well as young artistic talents. It reflects the inclusiveness of the Bahraini fine arts experience, which forms an important part of the local cultural movement.
