Arsenal loses 1-0 at Everton for 2nd Premier League defeat

London, Feb 4 (BNA): Arsenal lost in the Premier League for only the second time this season as Everton cruised to a shock 1-0 victory over the leaders on Saturday in their first game under new manager Sean Dyche.

Two of Dyche’s former Burnley players have done the work for him at vibrant Goodison Park, according to the Associated Press.

James Tarkowski headed in a corner kick to the far post from Dwight McNeil to score the winning goal in the 60th minute, capping off a strong and willing performance from a team that started the match in penultimate position.

And while Everton got out of the relegation zone at least temporarily, Arsenal tasted defeat in the league for the first time since losing to Manchester United on September 4.

Second-placed Manchester City can reduce the gap with Arsenal to two points with a win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, although Arsenal still have a game in hand.

And it will be one of Arsenal’s worst performances this season, at a time when Mikel Arteta’s team was looking for a good condition to move forward and win the league for the first time since 2004.
