Animal Wealth Undersecretary affirms using modern technology to boost agricultural production

Manama, June 6 (BNA): Dr. Khaled Ahmed Hassan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs for Agriculture and Marine Resources, received a US delegation headed by Michael Hogan, Head of Mission in New York, and Stephen Valensen.

Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NEAD) attended.

Dr. Khaled affirmed Bahrain’s interest in food security, guided by the royal visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the follow-up of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. .

Al-Wakil stated that the Kingdom seeks to be in an advanced position in accordance with international standards in achieving food security.

He added that Bahrain adopts a national strategy for sustainable agricultural development aimed at strengthening the role of agriculture, animal and fish production to achieve comprehensive development.

During the meeting, Dr. Khaled reviewed the modern technologies used in agriculture and marketing the products of Bahraini farmers.

He affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to enhance cooperation with the United States in view of the trade facilities and mutual agreements between the two countries, in a way that supports economic growth in the two countries.

He pointed out that the ministry is keen to benefit from modern technology in agricultural production, according to the available resources that require expanding the use of agricultural technology and adopting sustainable farming systems.
