Al Sayyed Al Amin praises Bahrain’s leadership support to interfaith dialogue

Manama, May 23 (BNA): His Eminence Sayyid Ali Al-Amin, member of the Council of Muslim Elders, with the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, affirmed Bahrain’s status and role in promoting dialogue between religions.

His Eminence spoke to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines of the first meeting of the Standing Committee for Islamic-Christian Dialogue between the Council of Muslim Elders and the Vatican Office for Interreligious Dialogue.

His Eminence added that this meeting is one of the results of the “Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence,” which was held under the auspices of His Majesty the King last November, and was attended by His Eminence Dr. Al-Tayyib is the Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Elders, and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Vatican.

He said that today’s meeting comes in order to continue promoting the values ​​of dialogue and communication between followers of different religions and cultures.

Al-Amin said that he has a proposal to establish a joint institute for religious studies aimed at spreading the values ​​of tolerance, cooperation and dialogue between religions, as a way to deliver the humanitarian message of the forum.

He expressed his hope that the forum will continue to be held in Bahrain, which can serve as the permanent headquarters for the permanent committee for Muslim-Christian dialogue between the Council of Muslim Elders and the Vatican, as this meeting is only the beginning of many that will undoubtedly happen in the future.
