Bali, March 19 (BNA) The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Fawzia Bint Abdullah Zainal, stressed the need to expand cooperation between Arab parliaments and legislative councils to enhance efforts to enhance efforts to achieve sustainable development goals. Achieving the common interests of the Arab countries, noting that parliaments are essential partners for the government in promoting the progress and prosperity of Arab countries and their peoples.
She stressed that defending Arab issues and interests is a priority for Arab parliaments, praising the advanced level of coordination and solidarity between Arab parliaments, especially in international parliamentary gatherings.
This came in Zainal’s statements while chairing here today the coordination meeting of the Arab group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held on the sidelines of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and related meetings currently hosted by Indonesia.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Duarte Pacheco and members of the Bahraini parliamentary delegation.
The President of the Union stressed that the challenges currently facing the Arab countries, and the continuous attempts to undermine their security, stability and unity, require strengthening Arab solidarity, joint action, and unifying parliamentary positions.
She indicated that holding the meetings of the Arab group periodically will have a pivotal role in promoting joint Arab parliamentary action to translate the visions of Arab leaders and peoples into reality.
