95% of digital transformation for ID Card services completed

Manama, Dec. 28 (BNA) The national portal bahrain.bh now provides 32 electronic services for ID cards and civil records, which meet 95% of the government’s digital transformation goal, said the Acting CEO of the Information and e-Government Authority (iGA). Executive Vice President of Electronic Transformation Dr. Zakaria Ahmed Al Khaja. The digital transformation step is in line with the vision and directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the support of the Minister of Interior Major General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

Al-Khaja said that the process of digital transformation began gradually and accelerated over the past few years to provide citizens and residents with a comprehensive set of electronic services for identity cards and civil records without the need to visit service centers. The number of online ID card transactions in 2021 was 361,276, out of a total of 578,689 transactions.

Al Khaja highlighted several ID card transactions and statistics for 2021, which include 213,444 transactions delivered by mail, 1,064 requests for unique personal numbers, 2,840 online print notifications, 1,046 requests for facility unit numbers, and 24,143 transactions for a certificate birth, and 34,990 transactions were performed. Al-Khaja pointed out that the efforts of the Information and eGovernment Authority to provide online services to update ID card data led to a sharp rise in its use, as citizens and residents no longer need to set appointments and visit service centers in person to receive the necessary documents.

The total number of electronic services for addresses through the national portal reached 3,359. A total of 41,830 online transactions were carried out to update civil records, which now do not require visits to service centers. In addition, 38,560 transactions were made to update address data and print address certificates.

The large-scale digital transformation of ID card services has replaced digital documents with paper, reducing spending, time and effort. Notable electronic services for ID cards include family services, such as issuance, renewal or replacement of ID cards, as well as comprehensive services for domestic workers and children under 4 years of age; Renewal and replacement of identity cards for Bahrainis and non-Bahrainis. Appointment reservations and inquiries; Issuance of unique personal numbers; Update card data such as address and unit numbers; And print address certificates.
