Saudi Dakar Rally 2022 kicks off next Saturday

Jeddah, December 28 (BNA) The 44th edition of the Saudi Dakar Rally, the largest event in the world of motorsport, will kick off here next Saturday.

The event kicks off from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the third year in a row, amid wide global interest and follow-up to the Dakar Rally, which continues to leave its mark in the vast deserts of the Kingdom, its geographical diversity and its beautiful landscapes, bringing more excitement and enthusiasm to the ancient rally, making the Kingdom among the best destinations to host the most prestigious rally international.

The participants began arriving in Jeddah, which will host the first stage, where the drivers will begin their arduous 19-kilometre journey on January 1, before moving to Hail, which will witness the start of the official competitions on January 2 in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

They will also experience the toughest adventures of desert rally sport over the course of 14 days, as they brave desert and rugged terrain to test their endurance for a total distance of 8,375 km, of which 4,258 km are special stages subject to timing, passing through most of them. Spectacular landscapes and archaeological sites in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The 44th edition of the Saudi Dakar Rally 2022 attracted more than 1,000 participants representing 70 nationalities from all over the world, making it the largest in terms of participation in the history of the rally. The race also includes 430 vehicles of different classes, and 148 vehicles of the “Dakar Classic” category, as this year’s track consists of one preliminary stage and 12 regular stages, with a rest day in Riyadh, during which the contestants pass. Five stages and one marathon.
