8 restaurants, cafés fined for violating health protocols

Manama, December 27 (BNA) The Public Prosecution Office of the ministries said that the Public Prosecution received communications from the Public Health Directorate indicating that eight restaurants and cafes violated the health protocols in force within the framework of the yellow alert. level.

Reports stated that the outlets allowed customers to enter without checking their vaccination status, and accepted those who did not receive the required number of vaccinations against COVID-19. In addition, customers were not wearing face masks while inside the outlets.

The Public Health Directorate had closed the violating restaurants and cafes, and referred them to the competent authorities.

The Public Prosecution Office launched investigations into the cases and charged eight violating workers and seven commercial outlets as legal persons.

The cases were referred to the Criminal Court, which is responsible for examining violations of the precautionary measures to limit the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The judge issued sentences against the defendants, including fines ranging from 1,000 dinars to 2,000 dinars, totaling 20,000 dinars.
